High Notes History
"To be able to
give children - especially the very young - the chance to explore
the joys of live music is invaluable for them and extremely rewarding."
I am Louise Cook - the founder of High
Notes Music.
I graduated from the London College of
Music with a teaching diploma in both the piano and flute. I
was rather fortunate that during my college years my mother ran
her own nursery school and so I went there once a week to play
the piano for the children.
It was there that I noticed how children
react instinctively to music without caring whether it is an
excerpt from an opera, a chart song or a theme tune, just as
long as there is a good tune and an interesting rhythm.
Being inspired by the little ones, I continued
to use my musical training to establish myself in nursery schools.
I still continue as a visiting musician to various pre-schools
in the Amersham, Chesham Bois and Gerrards Cross areas.
My involvement with both classical music
and young children led to the development of High Notes with
its the first venue in Little Chalfont in January 1999.
I love my work and feel very fortunate
to be a part of childrens' lives during their developing years.
Children will always have a fresh approach to life; and working
and playing with them challenges my creativity resulting in new
(and oftentimes spontaneous) ideas for composing original songs
and tunes.
Although I ensure that the High Notes'
sessions are structured, I thoroughly enjoy 'going with the flow'
as dictated by the children and believe that this is one of the
reasons why High Notes is a successful live music group.
"Come and join in the fun
the musical way."
